Orland Park Area Chamber of Commerce CEO
The Orland Park Area Chamber of Commerce (OPACC) is seeking a strong leader for the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The primary role of the CEO is to maintain and grow the operations of the Chamber in partnership with, and under the supervision of the Board of Directors (BOD). The CEO will work with a dedicated BOD who are deeply supportive of the Chamber. As the CEO, you are at the face of the OPACC, an organization committed to providing solutions to business and community needs. The Chamber is an essential resource to our businesses through collaboration, partnership, and collective voice.
Position Summary
The CEO of the Orland Park Area Chamber of Commerce provides the leadership, direction, and management for all aspects of Chamber operations and is responsible for effective implementation of the strategic initiatives and policies of the Chamber BOD. The CEO serves as the principal advocate and spokesperson for the Chamber. Specifically, the CEO is responsible for the following essential functions:
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Maintain a high profile in the business community, be the face of the chamber
- Advocate on behalf of the Orland Park area business community
- Suggest and implement innovative and creative programming to grow and maintain a vibrant chamber
- Prepare an annual budget and ensure the chamber is managed within the financial and legal guidelines
- Work with the BOD to develop a Program of Work, reflecting the chamber’s purpose and membership needs for the fiscal year based on a Strategic Plan
- Provide the BOD with regular updates regarding chamber committee developments and activities
- Oversee the direction of all membership efforts and develop a retention plan that encourages members to become actively involved
- Coordinate new member development and oversee orientation programs
- Develop and communicate member benefits
- Assume proper membership record keeping, update membership records
- Seek to develop strong relationships with the Village and surrounding chamber entities
- Review and make recommendation regarding by-laws
- Manage and develop chamber staffing plan consistent with program needs and financial guidelines; responsibilities include, recruiting, hiring and dismissal
- Recruit and manage volunteers
- Maintain contact with all committees and be aware of the status of all chamber projects in relation to objective, the current position and work yet to be done
- Direct office maintenance including replacement of equipment and future purchases of office equipment according to budget
- Be aware of community concerns and its activities, develop knowledge of organizations in the community, their programs and leadership
- Know chamber-related industry trends on a local, state and national level
- Recommend appropriate policy revisions and/or additions. Preserve all legal and historical documents related to the chamber
- Understanding and capabilities of today’s online technology as it relates to websites, social media and other online platforms
- Perform other duties as prescribed by the BOD

Education, Experience, Information
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Institution for Organized Management or Certified Chamber Executive certified is a plus
- 5+ years of relevant experience in leadership or management-level role, non-profit or association management a plus. Preferably a Chamber of Commerce
- Proven leadership skills, proven track record of building consensus among stakeholders and constituencies
- The position involves working standard business hours as well as occasional time before and after hours
